Bikes and Beer
281 cyclists participated in last weekend’s Harpoon Indoor Time Trial, a stationary bike race that simulates an eight-mile course. Only A Game’s Doug Tribou visited the Harpoon Brewery in South Boston to take in the event, and brought back some photos. While you look at the pictures, click “Listen” above to hear the story.

Hey, OAG!
Why no video? I’d love to watch some of this. How hot did the room get? How many beers got sold? Did they play music during the event?

Hi John,
Thanks for checking out the photos. No video because we too busy gathering audio and pictures! Click the listen link above to hear our story. They did play music throughout the day and had an MC doing some play-by-play. The brewery’s bottling line and warehouse aren’t really heated. On a cold day (outside) it’s about 40-50 degrees inside, but with all the people it was a comfortable room temperature for the time trial.

I appreciate both principled ethics and excellent beer. I shall demonstrate this by going out and buying a case of Harpoon IPA for my Superbowl party. (There are only four of us.)
This was a great event at a great location. Jessie Cox and Harpoon put on a great event!
I completely enjoyed listening to a good portion of your report on the radio. I would like a phone contact or any contact information to find out how I could possible apply to do this sometime in the near future. Also are there other categories besides ‘ over 50′.
Thanks — Jerry
Jerry,
Glad you enjoyed the story! There were 13 heats in all. Most were open heats, but they also featured races for 50+, men over 200 lbs., elite men, elite women, and teams.
For more information about the event and to find email contact information click here.
Thanks for visiting our site.

Thanks for doing this! I am a Harpoon tour guide and I was giving tours that day. I can tell you that on a cold day in Boston, it was more like 10 to 15 degrees.
Very cool.
You put together a great piece – I think they better plan to start at sunrise next year to meet the demand. I think this will attract an even bigger crowd! Very cool event at a great location!
