Christopher Swain prepares for a swim in the Charles River
Christopher Swain prepares for a swim in the Charles River
Swimming for Clean Water
Date: 11/13/2004
Listen to story
The Charles River winds for 80 miles from Hopkinton, where the Boston marathon begins, to Boston Harbor. There is no record of anyone ever swimming the river's length. Perhaps that's because no previous swimmer has been willing to prepare as Christopher Swain has prepared, not only by swimming laps, and by working out at the gym, but by sticking out his arm to receive vaccinations against various ailments. Bill Littlefield has our story.
