Fans of baseball will  recognize that "the black" in baseball terms refers to the outer edge of home plate. That’s exactly what the two pitchers featured in John Feinstein’s Living On The Black: Two Pitchers, Two Teams, One Season, try to do during every game they play. Feinstein details a season spent with Mike Mussina and Tom Glavine and their attempts to keep their pitches right on the black.
